Tipplasty is a surgical procedure that focuses on reshaping and refining the tip of the nose. While general rhinoplasty procedures may address both the bridge and tip of the nose, tipplasty is specifically aimed at correcting issues related to the nasal tip, such as an overly upturned, drooping, wide, or narrow tip.
Tipplasty may be recommended for individuals who:
Tipplasty can be performed under local or general anesthesia. During the procedure, excess cartilage or tissue from the nasal tip may be removed or reshaped. The surgery typically lasts between 1 to 2 hours, and the incisions are often placed inside the nose, leaving no visible external scars.
The recovery time for tipplasty is generally quick, but varies by individual. Patients may experience some swelling and bruising around the nasal tip in the first few days, but these symptoms typically resolve within 1-2 weeks. External dressings are usually removed after a week, while internal nasal dressings may remain for a little longer.
As with any surgery, there are some risks associated with tipplasty, including infection, bleeding, excessive swelling, or dissatisfaction with the final result. However, the likelihood of complications is minimized when the procedure is performed by a skilled and experienced surgeon.
